Stephen Farnan

"Stephen Farnan is fast becoming one of Northern Ireland’s most prolific potters and has been shaking things up with his easy going, organic approach to clay. His quirky, energetic pieces – mainly tableware: cups, platters, plates, bowls - are a huge hit with everyone from grannies to hip young design-conscious homeowners and art gallery bods, much loved for their timeless simplicity and comforting nostalgic quality. His 'simplistic' 'disorganised' designs belie a much more considered approach and aptitude for innovation and experimentation."

In the mid 1990’s Stephen studied at the Art College in Belfast before completing a master’s degree at the Royal College of Art, London. Since then he has travelled widely, working for periods with Potter Elizabeth Kinder in the USA. Stephen returned to Ireland in 2002 to establish his pottery studio at Priory Cottages, Art, Craft & Design Studios, Benburb.
